Description of Services: Hospital-based outpatient program for people who have swallowing disorders * services may include:

  • nutrition assessment
  • oral motor assessment
  • clinical swallowing assessment
  • videofluoroscopy swallowing study
  • fiberendoscopic evaluation of the swallow

Services provided by a speech language pathologist and registered dietitian

Progression level of rehabilitative care for patients working to restore or maximize functionality

Application: Medical referral required * referrals are accepted from a UHN physician for any patient seen through a UHN clinic * referrals should specify a request for videofluoroscopy swallow study, and provide pertinent history/reason for referral

Diagnosis: oropharyngeal dysphagia, commonly in people with neurological disease, head and neck cancer, or as a consequence of surgical intervention or illness
